Digital Photography I
In this course you will learn how your camera sees. You will gain an understanding of exposure values, depth of field, dynamic range, and field of view. We will cover file transfers and the various formats such as jpeg, bitmap, and psd. We will use Photoshop tools to correct and size our photos. Also we will cover the basics of printing a quality photograph from choosing the correct paper type to matching the color profile.

Digital Photography II
Learn to refine your photographs, exposure values, the importance of White Balance, choosing a light metering pattern, how to maximize your Dynamic Range, and controlling “noise.” We will cover the basic formats and cover RAW files, adjusting them using Photoshop for the richest possible picture. We will manipulate and create digital art using Filters, Layers, and Image Stacking. We will also cover using a scanner to digitize our keepsake photographs and slides and restore them to their former glory. Archival storage and printing will be covered as well.

Second Life 101
Second Life is a free, online virtual world with a resident population of millions of real people from around the world. Second life is created by residents. Each person is represented by an avatar that represents their chosen digital persona. Second Life 101 is a course designed to teach new users how to navigate Second Life. The course begins by introducing how to create and activate a Second Life account, log into Second Life, and visit Orientation Island. Students will learn how to customize their avatar’s appearance with hands on instruction. There will be hands on lesson about communication tools, such as, voice chat, instant messaging, and text chat. Inventory management, and basic building and scripting skills will also be introduced.
