35th Annual Scholars and Benefactors Luncheon Photo Gallery

Over 150 benefactors, scholars and their families and friends, faculty and staff attended Stark State’s annual Scholars and Benefactors Luncheon on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at LaPizzaria Restaurant. The purpose of the annual event is to recognize scholarship donors and recipients. Students have the opportunity to personally thank the generous benefactors who provide their scholarship awards.

“We were delighted that nearly 40 family and friends joined us to celebrate our scholars and thank our donors,” said Para M. Jones, Ph.D., vice president for advancement, planning and college relations. “This is the first year we had a venue large enough to make that possible, and it will become an annual tradition.”

Despite Stark State’s affordable tuition, many students still cannot afford to attend college without scholarship assistance. “Working students often fall through the cracks when it comes to federal and state financial aid. Private scholarships provided by our generous donors can really make the difference for these students,” Dr. Jones said.

“An advantage for donors is that their philanthropy goes a lot further at Stark State because of our low tuition,” she pointed out. “Many of our donors like the fact that their gifts can impact more students.”
