Transitional Specialist (THEME)
Description:
Full-time grant supported position through August 31, 2009 with
potential renewal for up to five years. Responsibilities include
serving as a mentor for RSC (Rehabilitation Services Commission) or
RSC-eligible high school students; designing an on-going mentoring
model utilizing best practices for post-secondary students with
severe disabilities; recruiting and training peer mentors; providing
learning support skills such as organizational, study and tutoring
in entry-level subject areas; working closely with high schools to
develop transitional programs and facilitate students transitioning
from high schools to post secondary institutions and from Stark
State College to the University System of Ohio; and data compilation
and reporting on students served, services provided and outcomes.
Requirements:
Requires bachelor’s degree in social work, education, vocational
rehabilitation, counseling or related field. Requires 5+ years of
experience servicing individuals with disabilities.
