INSTRUCTOR of MATHEMATICS

DIVISION Arts and Sciences
DEPARTMENT Math/Physics
SUPERVISOR Department Chair, Math/Physics
JOB CATEGORY Instruction

Description: Full-time, 180-day contract position beginning spring of 2010. Prepare and deliver high quality day, evening and/or weekend course instruction at main and/or satellite campuses or on the web in Math. Responsibilities include traditional and/or online course development and facilitation, academic advising, and research and development of potential certificate and/or program offerings. Participation on division and college committees, professional development opportunities, marketing of programs, articulation with other colleges, and other duties as assigned by the department. Support quality improvement in the department and the College.

Requirements: Master’s degree in Mathematics or Master’s degree in Education or Curriculum and Instruction with 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Must be able to develop and implement innovative approaches to pedagogy, including instruction of both developmental and non-developmental courses. Work experience in applied mathematics highly valued and preferred. Previous experience with college-level instruction highly desirable. Knowledge of how to facilitate a highly effective learning environment is essential as is instruction and enhancement of web-mediated courses. Ability to function effectively and productively in team-based initiatives is critical. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
