Design Engineering TechnologyThe Design engineering technicians prepare detailed drawings based on rough sketches, specifications and calculations. They determine the strength, type and quantity of materials and give the dimensions necessary to make detailed parts or assemblies.

Design engineering technicians might specialize in the design of tools, machines or products for structural, electrical, civil and mechanical systems and represent ideas graphically through traditional drawings or computer-aided design (CAD) systems.

Design Engineering TechnologyThe design engineering technology program is regularly evaluated and approved or revised by an advisory committee of professionals who represent local businesses and industries. This ongoing evaluation process ensures that design engineering technology students receive state-of-the-art education that will help them get good jobs.

The program in design engineering technology is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC of ABET).

A graduate of this program will earn an associate of applied science degree in design engineering technology.
