| about volunteerism
and involvement in our community, especially in working with
marginalized populations. The Stark State College massage therapy
program requires that students perform a minimum of 20 hours of
community service. Due to the overwhelming number of requests for
massage and the time that it takes for us to fill out forms, get
directions, etc, we are now directing those asking for services to
fill out the form below for approval.
Those who qualify for
these services are non-profit organizations, school systems, those
providing public health fairs, underserved populations and those who
serve them. If you are not sure if you fit into one of these
categories, please feel free to contact the Stark State College
massage therapy clinical supervisor Jane Leonard at
jleonard@starkstate.edu. You may also call Jane at
330-966-5458, Ext. 4725.
Sports Massage
Many of you have seen our students at the North Canton 4th of July
race and the Hall of Fame race each year. We are limiting our
participation in races to these two events and will not be providing
massage for any other sporting events.
Please fill out the
form below. Jane Leonard will contact you to tell you if your event
has been approved and to tell you other details that you will need
to know. The event is not approved until you hear back from
the supervisor and will only be held if enough students sign
up to work it. We will let you know at least one week prior whether
or not the event can be held.
Student massage
services are provided at no charge to those we serve and no tipping
or other gifts are allowed. If food is being served at the event the
students may be invited to eat during break times or after
completion of their responsibilities. We also ask that the
individual supervising the event contact us if our students do not
show up for an event, are not dressed properly or act
unprofessionally in any way. It is part of their education to be
timely and present themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Thanks for the
opportunity to serve you and for participating in our student’s
education and professional development. |
