Program Information:
Stark State College of Technology, with
it's program certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, now offers Ohio Peace Officer Certification Training.
The Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission began an Open Enrollment Student Program in 1991, which was established for those individuals who wish to receive the peace officer training prescribed by the State of Ohio and were not sworn officers with a police agency.

The Stark State College program will fulfill the requirements for both the sworn officers and open enrollment candidates. This course will assist individuals interested in becoming a Municipal, Township, or Village Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff, State Wildlife Officer, as well as other law enforcement positions.
Our Academy is of the highest caliber with professional staff members averaging over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Additional instructional staff are attorneys from the Prosecutor’s Office, criminologists from the Canton-Stark County Crime Lab and a variety of select personnel from surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Beginning in Fall 2010, the Police Academy will be a college credit program under the Public Services Division. For information or to apply for the August class, please call the Admissions Department at 330-966-5450.
