(North Canton, OH – January 8, 2009) Stark State College will host “College Goal Sunday” (CGS), a statewide financial aid event, on February 8 at 2 p.m. in the College’s Silk Auditorium at 6200 Frank Ave. N.W., North Canton. The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 8-page FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans.
“The FAFSA is the most essential piece to College financial aid,” said Amy Baker, dean of financial aid and registration at Stark State College. “Studies show that students are 50% more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA. Attendees should bring their 2008 tax return, if possible, or their 2008 W-2’s or last pay stub for 2008 and counselors will assist them with the FASFA application on the spot.”
While walk-ins are welcome, registration is encouraged. Registration is available online at www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org. Stark State is one of two Stark County sites hosting the statewide event. |
