Disability Support Services (DSS)
Stark State College’s Disability Support Services operates under mandates found in Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended.
The mission of the Disability Support Services department is to provide equal access to educational opportunities for all qualified students with disabilities and to ensure that all students can freely and actively participate in all facets of the College. The Disability Support Services staff also assists students with disabilities by providing academic support services and accommodations, academic advising, admissions and financial aid assistance; and career guidance.
The campus includes many accessible features, such as accessible restrooms, electric doors, handicapped parking (by permit) and Braille room signs. The College's Disability Support Services staff coordinates services with academic and non-academic offices and serves as a liaison between the College community and state/local agencies.
