What is college credit plus (CCP or CC+)?
College Credit Plus is an accelerated program that allows high school students to simultaneously earn credit toward high school completion and a college degree.
Who is eligible to enroll in a college credit plus course?
Any student who meets the required score for a particular course.
What are the advantages of college credit plus?
- Earn high school and college credit at the same time.
- Be exposed to college level work, college application and registration procedures, and a higher level of academic rigor.
- Enhance the amount, level, and diversity of learning in high school.
- Reduce the time required to earn a college degree.

How much will college credit plus cost my family?
Stark State College does not charge College Credit Plus students for tuition. Your high school may have a charge, so check with your high school counselor.
How do I apply and register for college credit plus courses?
- Complete the online College Credit Plus admissions application.
- Take either the ACT or ACCUPLACER test to determine readiness.
- Talk with your high school counselor to determine which College Credit Plus courses you will take.
- Register for your courses by filling out a class registration form with your high school counselor. Your counselor will submit your test scores, official transcript, and class registration form to the Stark State College coordinators.
What is ACCUPLACER testing?
ACCUPLACER test measure your skill level in three basic areas – Math, English, and Reading. All Stark State College students take the ACCUPLACER test. Scores help to determine whether or not a student needs to be put into a developmental course.

Is there a limit to how many classes I can take?
Yes. The number is determined by the high school, so discuss this with your guidance counselor.
Will my college credit plus course be exactly the same course that is taught at Stark State?
The only difference between the class at the high school and the college is the number of days per week the class meets. At the high school you will follow a normal schedule. Most classes at the college only meet two days per week. Otherwise, you will cover the same material and take the same tests.
What do I do about textbooks?
Textbooks for classes taught at the high school are provided by the high school and must be returned at the end of the semester. Textbooks for the classes taught on a Stark State College campus are paid for by the high school, but must be obtained from the college book store in G105. Check with the high school counselor to determine if the school wants the books returned to them or if you may keep the books.
As a Stark State college credit plus student, will I have access to the library, the bookstore, tutoring, career services, an academic advisor, student organizations?
A college credit plus student has access to all services provided to any other Stark State student.
Parent - why can’t I view my child’s college records?
All Stark State College students are subject to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. A student must sign a consent to release form allowing you to have access to his/her records. Grades are sent to the high school at the end of each semester.
What happens if I withdraw from a college credit plus class?
You have one week to withdraw without any penalty. Your record is erased. If you withdraw from a course after that week but before the final drop date, you will get a “W” on your transcript, but it will not affect your GPA. If you do not withdraw until after the final drop date, you will receive an “F” for that course and it will affect your GPA.
Will these credits transfer to other colleges?
Stark State College is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Completed coursework is fully transferrable to other Ohio state assisted colleges and universities and most private schools. When you arrive at a college or university, you will have to choose a major. Different majors have different course requirements. Your college credit plus course will apply to your major if it is a course requirement. See OTM and TAG designations.
Do I have to attend Stark State after high school for my credits to count toward my associate’s degree?
No.
When I’ve graduated from high school, do I have to reapply to Stark State to be admitted?

How do I request my official transcript from Stark State?
Once you have been admitted to the college, you will receive a letter with an ID card attached. You will also receive instructions on how to access your mySSC account online. You should request your transcript through your account. You will also be able to access your schedule, grades, use the email, apply for financial aid, and so much more.
What qualities are needed for success for college credit plus at the college
A successful college credit plus student is disciplined, self-directed, academically able, and socially mature.
