Stark State College to host Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration featuring guest speaker

(North Canton, OH – Jan. 16, 2024) – The public is invited to attend a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Stark State College on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Guest speaker Janée Kelly, director, office of multicultural affairs at Case Western Reserve University, will present “What does Ethnography even mean?: A dive into this social justice research method.” The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in M100 of the Business and Entrepreneurial Center at Stark State College, 6200 Frank Ave. NW, North Canton.

Attendees will learn about ethnography as a social justice aligned research method. Ethnography speaks to the experience of the people and how their lives and communities are shaped by and shaping the world around them. Attendees will learn more about how to conduct ethnographic research and how to empower people around them in the production of academic knowledge. They also will leave the session having created their own ethnographic case study.
