Stark State College to host Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration featuring guest speaker

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Jan. 3, 2025 – The public is invited to attend a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Stark State College on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Guest speaker Kemp A. Boyd, executive director of Love Akron and head football coach at Garfield High School, will present “Modeling Restoration: Building Dr. King’s Beloved Community.” The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. in M100 of the Business and Entrepreneurial Center at Stark State College, 6200 Frank Ave. NW, North Canton.

Boyd’s presentation will focus on restorativeness – on healing, reconciliation and restoring relationships rather than punishment. Rooted in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community, it seeks justice through empathy, accountability and shared humanity.
