Expanded functions dental auxiliary (EFDA)
Overview
The expanded functions dental auxiliary (EFDA) technology program prepares you for a career as an advanced dental professional working in private dental offices, dental clinics and public health facilities.
This program will teach expanded restorative procedures (how to fill teeth), but you must be a current Commission on Ohio Dental Assistant Certification (CODA), nationally certified through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), American Medical Technologist (AMT) Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) or a dental hygiene student who has completed a minimum of one year in an ADA-accredited degree program.
After two semesters and completion of major courses, you’ll earn a certificate and can sit for the Ohio EFDA examination. You can earn an associate of science degree in expanded functions dental auxiliary technology with additional coursework during three additional semesters.
Enrollment in the EFDA program is limited. Admission is offered to eligible applicants on a space available basis. The EFDA program requires a separate application; admission to the College does not automatically mean acceptance into the EFDA program.
