Stark State College currently has 20 automatic external defibrillator (AED) units located throughout our locations.

It’s important to know where the nearest AED is located in relationship to your work or classroom areas. You also should note the locations of other safety equipment – including fire extinguishers, fire alarm boxes, Narcan units and additional AEDs – as you move through our buildings. As with any emergency, the faster we can get help to someone experiencing a medical emergency, the more our chances of helping them survive increase.

While it’s recommended to receive training on how to use an AED, it’s not required in order to use one in a medical emergency. If you’re interested in receiving training, please visit https://atlas.heart.org/home to view course options. This site includes information about CPR training, too. The College also periodically offers CPR/AED training.

Campus security officers, as well as numerous college personnel, have received CPR and AED training.
