My child attends a non-public school. How do I apply and register for college credit plus (CCP) courses?
- Complete the online College Credit Plus admissions application.
- Submit the following to ccp@starkstate.edu:
- High school transcript.
- Test scores (ACT, ACCUPLACER, SAT). Find information on the ACCUPLACER and schedule a test here.
- Complete and return the Mature Content Questionnaire and Mature Content Permission Slip.
What is ACCUPLACER testing?
The ACCUPLACER test measures your skill level in three basic areas – Math, English and Reading. All Stark State College students take the ACCUPLACER test. Scores help to determine whether or not a student needs to be put into a developmental course.
How do I know if my child has been accepted to Stark State’s CCP program?
Students who have been accepted will receive their letter via email as well as a hard copy via mail.
Are there any steps I need to take after my child is accepted?
- Non-public school families need to apply for funding with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE). They will need an acceptance letter from Stark State to complete the process.
- All parents/guardians are required to establish an OH|ID account before they can apply for funding.
- The application process takes place each year for the following academic year. It opens February 1 on ODHE’s website and closes on April 1 at 5 p.m. Late applicants ARE NOT accepted.
- When requesting credits, families should do so for the entire academic year (i.e., summer, fall and spring semesters). Since the funding application process only happens once a year, families are requesting credits for the entire academic year at once. Most classes at Stark State are 3 credit hours each.
- Example: Requesting a total of at least 12 credit hours when a student plans on taking two classes in the fall and two in the spring.
Who can I contact for questions about the funding application process?
- Program contact: Wendy Casterline | Wendy.Casterline@education.ohio.gov.
- Further questions: Ohio Department of Education | (877) 644-6338 or ccp@education.ohio.gov.
When will we find out about my child’s credit awards?
- Students will be notified about their credit awards around the first week of May.
- Students then need to reach out to Stark State with their funding letter to schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor and register for classes.
- Students who missed the funding deadline or did not receive as many credits as needed may still participate in CCP; however, they would be considered self-pay.
Where can I find a list of course offerings?
