Three-fourths of the clients served by social workers have substance abuse and/or dependency problems, but only 3% of the social workers have certifications or licensure to work with this population, according to the National Association of Social Workers.

Great Minds Fellowship scholarship opportunity

Through the Ohio Behavioral Health Workforce Expansion program, students interested in pursuing degrees or certificates in the areas of chemical dependency or human and social services at Stark State College could be eligible for up to $12,000 in scholarships to assist with the costs of obtaining their education, paid internships, and licensing exams.
