July 15 deadline for next Stark State College law enforcement academy

(North Canton, OH – June 21, 2022) – Stark State College is accepting applications until July 15 at 4 p.m. for its next law enforcement academy, which runs Aug. 29 – May 14.

Classes in this part-time academy are scheduled Monday-Thursday from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Students must enroll in each semester’s courses concurrently. 

Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

The academy prepares participants to pursue one of many careers in law enforcement, including municipal, township or village police officer; deputy sheriff; state wildlife officer and other law enforcement positions. The intensive program is operated in cooperation with the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

All instructors are certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission.

Graduates of the academy program are eligible to take the Ohio Basic Peace Officer Certification examination.
