Stark State College receives $2.5 million from CARES Act to help students with emergency expenses during coronavirus outbreak

(North Canton, OH – April 23, 2020) – Stark State College students will have access to $2.5 million in federal emergency dollars to help them deal with obstacles in their education and life created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Stark State’s donation tally has climbed. The College has shared critical supplies with Akron Children’s Hospital, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, Aultman Specialty Hospital, Hummel Funeral Home, Mercy Medical Center, Summa Health and the Stark County Health Department.

Stark State College shares medical supplies with local hospitals, agency

(North Canton, OH – March 24, 2020) – Stark State College cares about community. The College’s respiratory care program recently loaned SUMMA Health Systems two mechanical ventilators and three non-invasive ventilation units from their laboratory. Two additional ventilators and three non-invasive ventilation units have been set aside for Aultman Specialty Hospital in case of a shortage.

(North Canton, OH – March 11, 2020) – In response to Gov. DeWine’s recommendations to colleges and universities, Stark State College will convert classes – including on-campus, face-to-face courses – to a virtual format, beginning March 16.

(Akron, OH – Feb.20, 2020) – Akron Public Schools Superintendent David James, Stark State College President Dr. Para Jones and University of Cincinnati School of Information Technology Professor and Director Dr. Hazem Said announced a new partnership on Thursday to ensure students in the Information Technology Pathway at Kenmore-Garfield High School have a path to a college education.
