(North Canton, OH – May 2, 2022) – Gerald “Jerry” Fox is passionate about telling “Just One Soldier’s Story,” and he’s reaching out to Stark State College students to help him do it.
Fox, a 1967 graduate of Stark State (then known as Canton Area Technical School), joined a CATS classmate in 1968-69 to serve in Vietnam. His buddy didn’t make it back, but the memory of what Vietnam soldiers endured shouldn’t die, Fox believes.
To that end, he spent two years creating 350 PowerPoint slides to share with his family and friends, and now plans to spread the message further. He’s teamed up with two other men and Stark State digital media students to make a documentary to use in schools and community organizations for education and fundraising (Wounded Warriors and Tunnels to Towers).
Fox said he calls the piece “Just One Soldier’s Story” because he wants all soldiers’ stories reflected. “It’s just one soldier’s story,” he said, “but 2.7 million others have a story to tell.”
The film will be introduced with a two-hour premiere screening May 5 at 4 p.m. in Silk Auditorium. All are welcome.
