Stark State College features artwork of Canton native Kathy Prosser Bovard during March

(North Canton, OH – March 3, 2020) – “Life in Watercolor,” artwork by Canton native Kathy Prosser Bovard, will be featured in a showing through March 29 in the Stark State College gallery on the second floor of the Student Center.

The public is invited to attend a reception for the artist from 5:30-7 p.m. March 18 in S204 of the Student Center. Stark State is located at 6200 Frank Ave. NW in North Canton.

The self-taught artist has worked full-time in watercolor painting for the last 12 years. After experimenting with many styles and topics, she now specializes in impressionistic portraits of people and pets.

With a secretarial degree from Timken High School, she worked for John and Annie Glenn, then spent 13 years working for Sen. Glenn in the U.S. Senate, including as chief of staff and deputy campaign manager of his 1984 run in the presidential primary. With a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University, she held several government leadership positions, including commissioner of the Indiana EPA. She later moved into non-profit management at the national level.

Kathy moved back to Canton three years ago with her husband, Gary. Her artwork is showcased at www.kpbart.weebly.com.

All art in the Stark State exhibit is available for purchase with 25 percent of the proceeds going to the College’s aesthetics fund for the purchase of artwork for the campus.

The gallery is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. During spring break, March 7-15, the College is open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on the weekends.
