Stark State College IMA wins prestigious national award for second year

(North Canton, OH – May 8, 2020) –  Stark State’s Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) student chapter has won the prestigious Clark Johnson Achievement Award for the second year in a row.

The chapter was recognized by the national IMA for efforts best reflecting the characteristics of Clark Johnson, a long-time chief financial officer at Johnson & Johnson, that include outstanding leadership through innovation, organizational development and interdependent partnerships.

Stark State is the first two-year college to earn the award, which includes a $5,000 prize.

This year, IMA lauded the SSC chapter’s financial literacy seminars, three YouTube videos that were played at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax clinics held by student volunteers for low income Stark County residents. The videos can be seen by searching “Stark State College financial literacy” on YouTube.

Stark State students coordinating the videos were current IMA President Rico Hinton, upcoming IMA President Brodie Yoder and member Nicolette Kennard.
