(North Canton, OH – May 15, 2023) – Stark State College is set to graduate 653 students at its spring commencement Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Canton Civic Center and streaming live on YouTube.

The College will award 721 associate degrees in business, education, engineering technologies, health, human and public services, information technology, liberal arts, mathematics and sciences.

The commencement speaker will be Michael Forbes, M.D., the chief academic officer and the William H. and Rebecca D. Considine Endowed Chair of Pediatric Research at Akron Children’s Hospital. He also serves as professor of pediatrics at the Northeast Ohio Medical University. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and this medical doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

His pediatric residency and intensive care fellowships were both competed at the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital of UPMC. He competed an additional National Institutes of Health fellowship in biomedical informatics and a master’s of public health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
